Ridesum is a training app for increased collaboration between riders, trainers and experts in the equestrian sport. The app launched in 2019 with the goal of making more professional and hobbyist horse enthusiasts to be able to connect with their trainer – without the trainer having to go there physically. The way they do this is by connecting the rider and trainer over their own smartphones and video streaming the paddock while the rider has an earpiece to take callouts from the trainer. They needed a logotype with an app icon in mind as well as a visual identity that stood out from a competition saturated with stylized horse illustrations. Instead they wanted to draw inspiration from other training apps like Strava. It ended up with a logotype that lives in the same visual sporty style as the training apps while also drawing inspiration from the world of video apps.
